KIDS AND CARS MISSION:
To assure no child dies or is injured in a non-traffic, motor vehicle related event
You're very welcome here. Take your time and explore the valuable resources available on our website. We hope you find this information useful and will want to help us work to prevent children from being injured or killed

Safe Kids Worldwide

is the first and only international nonprofit organization dedicated solely to preventing unintentional childhood injury. It focuses on one specific problem: more children 1 to 14 die from accidents such as motor vehicle crashes, fires, drowning, poisoning and falls than any other cause.

At Harrison's Hope, we are devoted to informing as many people as we can reach about the dangers associated with leaving children unattended in or around vehicles. Our aim is to protect our most precious cargo and assist in making sure that no child is ever, for a moment, left alone in a motor vehicle. At the same time we want to be there for victims and help touch the lives of others through their emotional and brave stories. If we can work together and share our knowledge, then these tragedies can be prevented. After all, saving just one life would make all of the difference in the world, for every life is precious.

Are Your Kids Safe? Motor Vehicle Crashes are the #1 cause of death for children and adults, age groups 1 to 34. Selecting a safe vehicle and properly using child restraints and seatbelts may be the most important things you can do to protect your family. Please browse our articles to learn more about these topics, and visit Car-Seat.Org forums if you still have any questions. Thank you for visiting; Remember to Buckle-Up and please drive safely!

Traffic Safety
Child Safety Seat Inspection Station Locator

In 2007 there have been at least thirty-five deaths of small children after being left inside a hot vehicle. Last year there were at least twenty-nine such fatalities in the United States due to hyperthermia after they were left in hot cars, trucks, vans and SUV's. This sadly followed forty-two child deaths in 2005. Since 1998 there have been at least a total of 323 of these needless tragedies. This study shows that these incidents can occur on days with relatively mild (i.e., ~ 70 degrees F) temperatures and can occur very rapidly.

SeatCheck

is a national campaign to help parents properly secure their children in motor vehicles. Central to the program is a free child safety seat inspection locator service which is available at www.seatcheck.org and toll-free at 1-866-SEAT-CHECK. These SeatCheck resources provide a listing of more than 4,000 local inspection locations staffed by trained and certified child safety seat technicians, so finding one near you should be easy.

Children's Car Seat Safety Guide

Even though most parents understand the need for using a car seat in their younger children, many children are still unnecessarily injured in car accidents. Among the factors that contribute to these preventable injuries are car seats used incorrectly or not used at all, children being placed in the wrong type of car seat, and moving children out of a car seat or booster and into regular seat belts at too early an age.
